My Story
I first became interested in fabric painting when I saw a cool lab coat at a science museum. The art teacher at the middle school I taught introduced me to fabric paints and helped me learn basic techniques. After creating my own lab coat, I decided to paint a tie unique to me and my school.
After painting my first tie, I experimented with various designs and through trial and error found some techniques that improved my work. I chose to paint ties because it was a clothing accessory that I wore every day and allowed me to display my individuality in my classroom. The majority of my tie designs relate to science because there is such a variety of topics and I can use the topics to share my science knowledge. I hope that my ties will be a unique accessory for others and can be used to express individuality and educate people at the same time
After painting many ties, I have expanded to painting other items, including wood signs and metal containers. I enjoy personalizing a variety of things.
